COVID 19 Update – We’re staying open!

Eyecare during Lockdown

As we enter the third national lockdown, we want to reassure everyone that Lesley Cree Opticians will be REMAINING OPEN as an essential service.

This time around The Government is endeavouring to maintain all normal NHS services and is encouraging patients to keep their NHS appointments including visiting your optician. Therefore, and in accordance with Government guidance, we will be able to continue to conduct routine eye examinations, whilst prioritising any eye emergencies or visual problems. Attending your eye sight test is important as it can also help pick up other eye health and general health problems. Under the new lockdown conditions you are permitted to leave home to travel to an eye examination appointment.

After the first and second lockdown we saw an influx of patients coming in to see us after feeling that their eyesight had deteriorated – probably because of the additional time spent in front of their laptop whilst working from home, or trying to view documents on their mobile, or simply from watching more TV on smaller screens.

As part of the NHS we have strict COVID secure safety measures in place and we want to reassure all our patients that we will continue to follow all guidelines and take every required precaution to ensure social distancing, the wearing of appropriate PPE and leaving time between appointments to allow for equipment sanitising. Rest assured your health and safety is of paramount importance and we are doing everything required to ensure this is maintained within the practice throughout your visit. All members of staff have also had their first vaccine and we are all carrying out COVID lateral flow tests twice a week.

We also understand that some people would rather defer their appointment and wait until the new year, and we want you to know that that is perfectly understandable – we look forward to seeing you whenever you are ready.

In the meantime, we would like to wish everyone the very best of health and if your eyes start to feel the strain of lockdown; if you are getting blurry vision, difficulty focusing or you are suffering more headaches particularly when reading or using a screen, then please do not hesitate to call us to get advice.
